Florence, 9 May 2023 – Lady Monika Bacardi, co-founder together with Andrea Iervolino of Iervolino & Lady Bacardi Entertainment, today joined the Honorary Advisory Board of We Do It Together, the non-profit production company founded by Florentine Chiara Tilesi that has been fighting for years for a new and fair representation of women in the cinema and media.
Monika Bacardi, multi-award-winning film producer, philanthropist and patron of the arts, announced her joining We Do It Together at the press conference presenting the new headquarters of the non-profit company founded by Chiara Tilesi, which will open in Florence. As a member of the Honorary Board, Lady Bacardi will assist WDIT in the transformation of the media narrative relating to women, supporting female talent in the film world and enhancing projects that aim to redefine the role of women on the small and big screen.
“I am very proud to be part of something like We Do It Together,” commented Lady Monika Bacardi on the sidelines of the conference. “Today, more than ever, it is necessary for women in every country to come together to raise awareness about gender equality. In my long career as a producer, I have always looked carefully at films capable of conveying this message to the public, because I am convinced that cinema can be a powerful voice in defence of the rights of all women. It is precisely for this reason that I decided to produce, together with Andrea Iervolino, the film ‘Tell It Like a Woman’, which we will screen today to once again tell the story of the strength and courage of women all over the world. I thank Chiara Tilesi and enthusiastically begin this new adventure, with the conviction that it will be prolific and full of satisfaction’.
Scheduled at the end of the conference is a special screening of the film ‘Tell It Like a Woman’, produced by Iervolino & Lady Bacardi Entertainment in collaboration with We Do It Together. A feature-length film made up of seven episodes recounting the challenges faced by every woman, all over the world, and involving internationally renowned directors and actresses. These include Eva Longoria, Margherita Buy, Cara Delevingne, Jennifer Hudson and Maria Sole Tognazzi. ‘Applause’, the film’s song written by Diane Warren and performed by Sofia Carson, was nominated for the 2023 Oscars in the ‘Best Original Song’ category.
